Stage Run spreads across the rolling ground northwest of Elizabeth, off Highway 86, on streets that give away the area’s history: Cherokee Trail, Wagon Wheel Trail, Stampede Circle, Rawhide Circle. Elbert County zones the subdivision RA-1, which carries a five-acre minimum, and the homesites we see here generally run right around that — enough land for outbuildings, a few horses, and a real buffer between you and the neighbors.

Horses are welcome, and the covenants are written with that in mind. Homes date largely from the mid-1990s onward, mostly ranch plans with basements, many of them walkouts, and detached heated shops are common. Every property has its own well and septic system, the interior roads are paved and county-maintained, and ponderosa pines break up the long views toward the mountains.
